THE PRODUCT

ArteFill (Artecoll) is an injectable substance that is designed to be permanent.

The manufacturers are anticipating approval for use sometime in the next year.
ArteFill (Artecoll) is available in my office and administered personally by me to patients on a very selective basis.
You may not receive an ArteFill (Artecoll) treatment on your first visit.
You will need to be skin tested prior to ArteFill (Artecoll) treatment as it contains a specific type of collagen in it.
If you want large lips, be aware that it can only be administered there in small doses, one tube per visit.
You may need multiple treatments to obtain the result you like.
You may need treatment with regular Collagen first to see if you and I both like the result, and how much to use.

THE PROCEDURE

Anesthesia is usually a topical or local injection so that this procedure is virtually painless.
You need a skin test ahead of time.
It takes about 15 to 45 minutes.
The product is injected with a small needle just like Collagen.
There are no dressings or specific postoperative precautions.
This can be combined with other plastic surgical procedures.

THE RECOVERY

You see your result and the approximate degree of your result immediately.
You can shower, bathe, wash and apply makeup immediately.
There is virtually no pain.
Swelling is mild to none at all.
Minimal or no bruising is the usual.
You can resume all activities and exercise immediately.
