Wrinkle and Fold Removal
Wrinkles and folds are really two different things. Wrinkles are in the
texture of the skin, at the level of the dermis and not below. They are
formed by the repetitive movements of our underlying muscles or by sun
damage, and made worse by poor skin health or lack of skin rejuvenation or
conditioning treatments. These are typically the thin lines that appear in
the crows feet area, upper lip, across the forehead or around the mouth.
Furrows can be considered the same as wrinkles with the addition that this
feature involves the next deeper layers such as the subcutaneous fat and
ligaments. Furrows are where there may be wrinkle lines complicated by the
loss of subcutaneous fat and/or support. Typical areas are the frown lines
between the eyebrows and the laugh lines. Skin folds and sagging skin are
different from above and are the result of looseness or relaxation or just
plain hanging skin. removed by various surgical and non-surgical modalities
depending on the nature of your anatomy. These range from non invasive
medical skin cream programs on the one end to more invasive surgical
interventions like facelifts and laser resurfacing on the far end of the
spectrum. Very aggressive medical grade cream programs mostly using Retin-A
are prescribed in a very customized and doctor supervised fashion that
really obtain results such as smoothening the skin, softening or removing
fine wrinkles, removing spots, making pores smaller, and smoothening the
textures. Chemical peels are the next step up and can be light, medium, or
deep. Healing time and results depends on the depth and intensity of the
peel and so it can range from weekend peels with TCA or Blue Peel to deeper
peels that take longer to heal. Dermabrasion and Laser Resurfacing is the
next step up and these are for deeper wrinkles and folds and it works much
faster. Facelifts and eyelifts are performed for patients with folds and
wrinkles that will not respond to the above treatments, but are often
combined with one or more of these to optimize the results. |
